Top Honors at the Fallbrook Film Festival
“The Art of Surfing: Carlsbad” recently captured top honors at the Fallbrook Film Festival. Competing with a number of short documentaries from around the world, the program, co-produced and directed by Ric Shellhammer and Ken Kebow, was awarded the “Best Documentary Short” at the Festival.
In addition to the most recent recognition, it previously won a prestigious Silver Telly Award.
“The Art of Surfing: Carlsbad” covers the history of the coastal city from 1950 until the present day. The documentary features over 17 interviews including Surfer’s Journal Steve Pezman, legendary photographer LeRoy Grannis, Boogey Board inventor Tom Morey and many other surfing notables.
Not only a program for surfers, the half-hour show takes a look at the beaches and coastal lifestyle over the last half century in Carlsbad and provides insight as to how living along our beautiful coastline has evolved and changed.
